Trying to make life a paradigm: Special forces blah blah.

Special forces blah blah I ve been reading a novel lately called the WHITE STAR by JAMES THAYER its about a sniper who is constantly challenged by another sniper to enter into a duel with him Its fantastic and I have got to learn so many things about special forces thanks to this novel Yesterday I happened to stumble upon a word called SPETSNAZ It is one of the most effective and lethal combat forces in the world today It belongs to RUSSIAN military During the 1970s when the Cold War was at its height the West became awareof the existence of Soviet Spetsnaz troops which were grouped into whatwere known as diversionary b
igades Today although the Cold War is longsince ended Spetsnaz units are still part of the Russian order of battle although their missions have changed Spetsnaz Spetsialnoye nazranie troops of special purpose were raised asthe troops of the Glavnoe razvedyvatel noe upravlenie GRU mainintelligence directorate of the General Staff and in the 1980s numberedsome 30 000 These were deployed one Spetsnaz company per Army oneSpetsnaz regiment in each of the three theaters of operations oneSpetsnaz brigade in each of the four Soviet Fleets and an independentSpetsnaz brigade in most military districts of the USSR There were alsospecial Spetsnaz intelligence units one to each Front and Fleet total 20 A Spetsnaz company was 135 strong normally operating in 15 independentteams although they could also combine for specific missions A Spetsnazbrigade was 1 000 1 300 strong and consisted of a headquarters three orfour parachute battalions a communications company and supporting troops It also included an anti VIP company composed of some 70 80 regular troops ie not conscripts whose mission was to seek out identify and kill enemypolitical and military leaders Although Spetsnaz units may be used for other purposes during peacetime their primary role is to carry out strategic missions during the final daysprior to war breaking out and in war itself These wartime tasks wouldinclude deep reconnaissance of strategic targets the destruction ofstrategically important command control and communications C3 facilities the destruction of strategic weapons delivery systems demolition ofimportant bridges and and transportation routes and the snatching orassassination of important military and political leaders Many of thesemissions would be carried out before the enemy could react and some evenbefore war had actually broken out On operations the majority of Spetsnaz soldiers would carry a 5 45mm AKS 74rifle and a 5 45mm PRI automatic pistol All would also carry combat knives which are specially designed for Spetsnaz troops One such design is theNR 2 an ingenious device which in addition to the blade incorporates ashort 7 62mm caliber barrel in the handle and is fired by clipping thescabbard and knife together to give some control Quite when such a weaponwould be used instead of a knife or a pistol is open to question Spetsnaztroops are also trained in all types of foreign weapons Spetsgruppa Al fa special group A was set up by the KGB s SeventhDirectorate in 1974 and appears to have been inspired by the British SAS andUS 1SFOD D Delta as a c ounter terrorist and hostage rescue group Al fais generally credited with being the unit that attacked the Presidentialpalace in Kabul Afghanistan on December 28 1980 and murdered PresidentHafizullah Amin and his family Al fa is now controlled by the FSB Federal naia sluzhba bezopasnosti Federal Security Service in generalterms equivalent to the USA s FBI This was just a trailer of what RUSSIA s special forces are kickass rest if left alone are good The Israeli Military forces the British SAS forces which are considered to be one of the toughest in the world have their tactics ranging from a page to a whole dossier I seem to think its enough for this time so much of special forces bullshit hunh Posted by Basabadutta Mishra at 9 48 AM
