Smokey Robinson Tapped for ELLA Award: ‘I’m Very Honored By .

Smokey Robinson first met Ella Fitzgerald some 50 years ago and calls her “my mom, just such a wonderful lady. I loved her so much, and she was ever so fresh to me.” Now he’s getting an award named in Fitzgerald’s honor.
The Motown legend will be the receiver of the 20th ELLA Award presented by the Order of Singers (SOS). The invitation-only ceremony will have aim on Sept.

It`s no secret that I`m a vast fan of the bluesy underdog Haley Reinhart, but I was more than disappointed with her performance tonight. Her smoky voice was tailor-made to sing Motown and she should`ve been capable to knock Smokey Robinson & the Miracles` hit “You Really Got a Hold on Me” out of the park.
