Not a DJ Said: so far so good ( Aug. 15th 2010 )
i initially resisted buying this saw. i own a ls 1214 fl and wish it. I was looking for a 10″ saw and precious a makita, but i had read a bit of reviews, giving this saw poor ratings. unable to get a ls 1013 fl for much less than $700 i decided to lay my hands on the saw. after messing with the present model for 10 minutes i asked the guy if we could extract one out of the box for a pre-purchase inspection. looking for the faults mentioned in negative reviews, i could see no trouble with the laser alignment or performance of the rails. the ls 1016 l seems to get picked up a few of the design features of the de walt miter saws – horizontal handle, similarly shaped fences and table, and rollers on the leading edge of the blade guard. the saw seems to make come from the factory correctly set, although i adjusted the laser from the left to the good position of the blade. the modern split rail system, sturdy box construction `arm` and the direct drive makita motor are the strengths of this saw. the 60 tooth blade cuts very smoothly, and i think this 10″ saw will be a substantial improvement on my 12″ for interior trim carpentry. judging from the reviews, there may be some variance in the build quality of these saws, but i am happy with my saw, monday it heads to the jobsite for some full-time interior trim work, i`ll keep you posted____

Good Price Although refurbished, the saw was in like-new shape The manual is sorry, even the pdf download (which unlike the print addition is readable) leaves much to be desired The saw is excellent; I bid the manual were half as good
J. Griffis Said: Didn`t go up to the hype ( Jul. 19th 2010 )
I had to place one saw back because the cant and angle cut could not be adjusted. They were alleged to be set at the mill but there was no way it could have been set. There was no room for adjustment on the position I required to go to. On the moment saw I had to set it at the absolute end of the sport in the modification to get it to cut square. I think this is okay, but it seems to me you shouldn`t have to go all the way to the end of the allowance to get it to cut correctly. I do wish the soft part and the cut quality is excellent with the provided blade. I wish the saw but am disappointed that I had to place one back. Amazon was great about the return.
Malcolm Byrd Said: Dust devil miter saw ( May. 17th 2010 )
Purchased the LS1016L today. Wasn`t accurate at 90 degrees, but was capable to set it. The biggest problem I had with it was the dust. The dust port does not admit the adherence of any vacuum hose. After a couple hours work, the bag had picked up maybe 5 to 8% of the dust. One trouble is the dust shoots out both sides of the sword and not much toward the tiny dust port. Could have been the wrong blade. It looks like trying to put dust through a drinking straw. I had read that Makita say they are running on a better dust collection system, but when will it come. I would like to see either a 2 1/2″ or 4″ dust port on miter saws.
The things I liked was the laser had its own switch so I could see where the cut will be. Just cause to think to play it off. The saw was relatively quite. The book down was fair. Insteading of turning a love to tighten, would choose to make a push-down like the Bosch has. The on/off switch was slow to operate. If you can survive with the dust, it would be great saw.
Jeffrey Mcqueen Said: Makita (LS1016L) Greatest10″ saw so far! ( May. 16th 2010 )
After carefully reading the negative reviews for this saw (LS1016L) and the newest DeWalt 12″, based on reviews only, the Makita is a best buy. However a jaunt to the local HomeDepot, for a hands on feel, was a bonus. After setting up the saw per instructions, I found this saw not to make any of the problems some have complained about. The slide action is a small tight, but only initially. It smooths out very quickly. The laser accuracy is adjustable. But mine was short on-on both the powerful and left position of the blade. The soft start feature is a serious plus for not tripping breakers on start-up.This saw has the lowest rpm of any saw I live of, yet, it produces very smooth, fast and accurate cuts.Mine came out of the box needing no calibrating.Dead on accurate. So, If you ask a better saw than this one, you want to have it yourself, and I`ll buy it from you.
