Kris Allen as usual gets shafted by “American Idol,” he’s got to sing “Heartless” by Kanye West immediately after Danny Gokey. No commercial break to collect himself, no clock for the hearing to get psyched up for him.
It’s quite good, out there alone with a guitar, and a totally different take on the song, of course. A bit rushed at times; but a good pick by Kris. And a very strong ending.
Randy says he liked that version better than Kanye’s version, “you’re in it to win it, I know it, baby.” Kara is still hung up on “Apologize,” calls it “bold, brave, fearless.” Paula says you sang a song about Simon; this is what keeps you relevant, doing something entirely different.
